To give the space required for a larger kitchen appropriate for a five-bedroom house, the proposal extends to the rear to create the desired kitchen/diner area– at the same time releasing space for a separate utility room deep in the plan of the house.
Green views to front and rear and good daylighting to reception rooms are existing qualities being retained and emphasised in the design. A crafted ‘patchwork’ approach to new elevations responds to the existing rear of the house and combines matching and more contemporary materials.
